We have the healthy air solutions you need.
What Are the Symptoms of Poor Indoor Air Quality?
Can the air inside your home negatively affect your health? The answer is yes. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), poor indoor air quality ranks as one of the top five environmental risks to public health. If someone in your house has difficulty breathing because of the indoor air quality, little else matters.
Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, fatigue, headaches, sore throats—even nose bleeds. Poor indoor air quality can lead to uneven humidity levels. The dry air cracks your skin and dries up your nasal passages, creating an assortment of health issues. On the other end, extremely high humidity levels allow for mold, mildew, and other issues.
Your air quality can also aggravate more serious conditions, such as asthma, heart and lung diseases, and other ailments.
What Causes Poor Indoor Air Quality?
Inadequate ventilation is the leading contributor. Circulating fresh air through your home is an important factor in maintaining your indoor comfort—stale air can trap contaminants and other airborne particles.
Other factors that can negatively impact your air quality include:
- Dirty air ducts
- Outdated building materials in your home
- Cigarette smoke
- Clogged air filters
- Dampness in your home
- Uneven humidity levels
- Household cleaners

Indoor Air Quality Solutions
Start with the air filters on your HVAC system. Change those air filters at least every 90 days—more so if you have pets, a smoker in the house, or someone with a chronic respiratory illness. Ductless systems have filters that need to be washed once a month to work effectively.
Humidity levels are another factor. The ideal indoor humidity level is between 35 and 50 percent—when you get outside that range, you risk dry air or air that is too moist. A whole-house humidifier is a perfect solution to increasing the humidity levels in your home.
If you suffer from allergies or asthma, consider a whole-house air filtration system. These systems integrate with your HVAC equipment to remove dust, dirt, pollen, mold, and bacteria from the air.
Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) and Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs) push out the stale indoor air and replace it with fresh outdoor air. The result is fresh air without overtaxing your HVAC system.
UV (ultraviolet) germicidal lights attack biological contaminants inside the home, such as bacteria and viruses, mold spores and mildew, and other contaminants. These systems can eradicate indoor viruses such as the flu without causing harm to you and your loved ones.

Many of these indoor air quality systems integrate with your existing ductwork and require professional installation to ensure you get the most value from your investment. “Ron gave us excellent advice when he installed our iWave-R air cleaner. We appreciated his expertise and professionalism.”
“Ron was just here at the house doing our Fall HVAC system maintenance getting ready for winter. He asked how our I Wave-R systems has been working. This past Spring Ron did our maintenance, he mentioned possibly installing the I Wave-R system to help clean the air in the house from dust, smells and not to mention when we have smoke problems in the area. I agreed to install the system and what a miracle. It is really effective at removing the pollen in the air, smell in the house from cooking fish and such and it has been a life saver when we have had such BAD smoke days from forest fires during the Summer. Thanks Ron for the suggestion, we have been breathing easier since the I Wave-R system has been installed! We highly recommend this system for others who might be suffering from similar breathing issues.”

“Duane came out and installed a whole house humidifier us for. He explained how the system would work with our furnace during the winter to increase the moisture in the air and reduce the static. He came back out a few months later to replace the cold air return damper motor in our attic. He was great~ very friendly, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about the entire HVAC system. We've been using Diversified Heating & Cooling for years as they consistently provide great service and have a great staff.”
“Great team, providing great service with an air of casual expertise. I felt like both the products installed – an upgrade to my air filter system and fireplace blower – will add both comfort and additional value to our home and diversified helped choose the right products for our already installed furnace and fireplace. So happy we signed-up for regular maintenance and will be seeing your great team again soon.
Thanks so much!”
